Voices of the European Food Network partners

    • Peter Galliker, CEO Galliker Transport AG, member in the European Food Network

"Within the European Food Network, we are pushing the issues surrounding sustainable logistics. The members of the European Food Network use a wide range of resource-saving and CO2 -saving measures to bring our customers' food to its destination and/or store it in a more environmentally friendly way. We are already using numerous battery-electric vehicles such as e-trucks in regular operations and also have the first hydrogen-powered trucks in test use."

    • Till Bischoff, Managing Director Spedition Heidelmann GmbH and Heidelmann Kühllogistik GmbH

"For us, the decisive factors for the safe and efficient execution of the complex tasks involved in the temperature-controlled transport of foodstuffs are the high level of standardization of the operational processes and our trained, highly motivated employees. Our customers also benefit from the cross-network IT solutions that ensure end-to-end transparency in the supply chain."

    • Jan-Peter Müller, CEO von Müller Fresh Food Logistics, member in the European Food Network

"Thanks to our membership in the European Food Network, Müller Fresh Food Logistics can offer its customers an even better service. The possibility of delivering small consignments to 34 European countries is a particular advantage."

    • Peter Therkelsen, CEO H.P. Therkelsen, member in the European Food Network

"Due to the strong network and the great commitment of the members in the European Food Network, we are ideally positioned throughout Europe to deliver food safely and on time to its destination. We offer our customers real added value. By bundling groupage shipments, we can save costs, personnel and time by making perfect use of the loading space right down to the last mile, as well as minimizing the environmental impact of each kilogram of goods been shipped through Europe.”

    • Michaela Dražanová, Director Fresh Logistics Raben Czech Republic and Slovakia, member in the European Food Network

"We offer our customers maximum planning reliability. With defined transit times, fixed-cycle connections and daily departures, we use the network to transport even smaller shipments reliably to the far corners of Europe. Even smaller regional companies with a smaller quantity of goods, which is not sufficient to use direct transports, can supply their customers from industry and trade via the network with fixed schedules."

    • Vitor Figueiredo, CEO Logifrio, member in the European Food Network

"For export-oriented companies in particular, we offer precisely tailored logistics solutions for the transport and storage of food products within Europe for the comprehensive supply of their sales channels. Our customers use the combination of fast pan-European transports, transparent information and competitive prices to supply their customers from industry and trade with high-quality food products with pinpoint accuracy."

    • Hans Brummer, Managing Director BRUMMER Logistik GmbHH, member in the European Food Network

"For more than 10 years, all members of the European Food Network have been proving on a daily basis that our network, which is highly specialized in food transport, reliably meets the high demands of customers. Our key success factor is that we intensively cultivate a harmonious interaction with our customers and service partners on the one hand and the recipients on the other, serving the requirements of both sides."

    • Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics DACHSER, member in the European Food Network

“In 2013, we founded the European Food Network and became the leading logistics network for chilled groupage transport. Our goal is to take groupage food logistics in Europe to a new level of quality and to interconnect markets. We have been able to achieve this because we are constantly optimizing existing processes, driving digitalization and investing in innovative IT solutions that make us and our services even better for our customers.”

    • Karlkristian Dischinger, Managing Director karldischinger GmbH, member in the European Food Network

"Our customers can check the shipment status online at any time and receive a digitalized delivery receipt after delivery. The flow of information accompanying the goods via tracking & tracing is implemented throughout Europe. With our strict control measures, which are based on the requirements of IFS Logistics, we check within the network whether the standards we have defined are consistently implemented within the supply chain.

    • Tamás Horváth, Branch Manager LIEGL & DACHSER Food Logistics, member in the European Food Network

"Europe-wide coordination as well as cost-optimized intelligent bundling of groupage freight is our day-to-day business. We transport over half a million shipments a year via the European Food Network. The leading market position and close customer relationships of the European Food Network members, the high level of specialization in the requirements of the food market and the comprehensive know-how for the storage and transport of foodstuffs, are the basis for our logistics performance."

    • Tomasz Olenderek, Managing Director Fresh Logistics , member in the European Food Network

“Owing to membership in European Food Network we have opportunity to take part in interesting international projects, thanks to which we open doors to unlimited possibilities for Fresh Logistics Customers. • Frederic Capuano, Branch Manager DACHSER Food Logistics France, member in the European Food Network

“France is a major hub in Europe for exports as well as imports of food products. • Roberto Specos, Country Manager DACHSER Italy Food Logistics, member in the European Food Network

"Italian specialities such as salami or Parmesan cheese, as well as fresh pasta and much more, are not only an export success in Europe. But Italy is also one of the major consumer countries for food. We at DACHSER Italy Food Logistics manage exports and imports of fresh and temperature-controlled foodstuffs with services tailored precisely to our customers' requirements. Via our platform, we implement quality service with fixed arrival times within Italy and via the European Food Network in the rest of Europe.”

Sustainable logistics for your food transports

Consistently using efficient logistics concepts for the temperature-controlled transport and storage of your foodstuffs brings you real added value. Costs are lower, deliveries are easier to plan and, if necessary - thanks to timed scheduled transports - they reach their destination more quickly. Another big advantage for the environment: CO2 emissions are significantly reduced. When we founded the European Food Network, we already had the intention of avoiding environmentally damaging empty runs by bundling general cargo shipments within Europe.

Target reached! Our efficient general cargo network transports food shipments within Europe with high frequency, speed and quality. With 23 network members, we operate regular scheduled transports with fixed transit times between 34 European countries. But this is only one step towards sustainable and efficient logistics. We achieve further increases in efficiency and reductions in CO2 by, among other things, increasing the use of mega-trailers, long trucks and extended semi-trailers with double-deck equipment. The expansion of digital processes also contributes to better planning and a reduction in the consumption of resources such as paper. For us, active climate protection is an essential part of our network philosophy and goes far beyond efficiency improvements in the supply chain. We are intensively involved with sustainable logistics and are already implementing various measures in a wide range of areas.

    Examples include:

    • Inner cities are increasingly being supplied by battery-electric trucks. More ›
    • The first hydrogen fuel cell trucks and battery electric trucks are already being used for long-distance transport in Switzerland. More ›
    • The use of highly efficient, energy-saving refrigeration systems as well as LED lighting reduces energy consumption values.
    • Warehouses and office buildings are mainly supplied with self-produced green electricity via photovoltaic systems.
    • When purchasing energy, some partners rely 100% on green electricity.
The partners in the European Food Network strictly adhere to European and national quality standards.
