DACHSER grows in the Würzburg area
Kempten/Dettelbach, 23.05.2022 - The internationally operating logistics service provider DACHSER has secured an approximately 10,000-square-meter warehouse in Dettelbach in the district of Kitzingen (Wuerzburg) for future contract logistics services. This offers space for ~15,000 pallet slots. On Friday, the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility took place in the presence of representatives of DACHSER and the industrial and logistics real estate developer Panattoni, as well as the deputy district administrator of the Kitzingen district, Robert Finster, and the mayor of Dettelbach, Matthias Bielek.

At the new logistics facility, DACHSER will primarily handle contract logistics services for customers from the industrial goods and food sectors. These include transport, warehousing, and customer-specific additional services such as picking and packing as well as display construction. The facility can be fully regulated to different temperature ranges so that refrigerated foodstuffs can also be stored. The highest standards of construction and sustainability were important to DACHSER and the project developer for industrial and logistics real estate, Panattoni: a former industrial wasteland was redeveloped for the new facility and developed for new commercial development for DACHSER, among others. Completion is scheduled for mid-2023.
The Dettelbach site is conveniently located between the A3 and A7 motorways, directly at the Biebelrieder Dreieck interchange. With the addition of a contract logistics site in Dettelbach, the logistics provider is strengthening its presence in the Würzburg area, in the heart of Europe, in addition to the existing hub in Kürnach. "We are a stable partner for our customers and a reliable supplier to the region," says Alfred Miller, Managing Director DACHSER Food Logistics. "We are investing in the future of the Würzburg location and enabling growth for our customers and potential new customers. Transport and warehousing from a single source reduces complexity, and our multi-user approach creates synergies for our customers. "
The new building also has modern office areas including rooms for training and meetings. In the medium term, up to 100 industrial and commercial jobs will be created at DACHSER in Dettelbach.
Reliable logistics partner in Lower Franconia since 2001
DACHSER has been represented in the Würzburg area since 2001 with its logistics center in Kürnach. There, around 170 employees handle 574,200 consignments a year on 7,200 square meters for customers from the industrial goods and food sectors. "We transport goods from Kürnach to the whole of Europe via the link to DACHSER's closely meshed overland transport network," says Jan-Oliver Schneider, branch manager at DACHSER's Würzburg logistics center. This is still connected to all relevant markets worldwide via DACHSER's air and sea freight branches in Nuremberg and Frankfurt.
Training skilled workers is also very close to DACHSER's heart. For example, the family-owned company trains freight forwarding and logistics service clerks, office clerks, warehouse specialists, warehouse logistics specialists, and professional drivers in Kürnach and, in the future, at its Dettelbach location. "We attach great importance to personal contact with all schools and training providers in the region," explains Jan-Oliver Schneider. "After successfully completing their training, we take on almost one hundred percent of our trainees. They are the junior staff for our future. Our employees are the heart of our success. "
