In this article, Raiko Richter, DACHSER Expert Warehouse Operations EL/FL (DEWO) at the Dresden Logistics Centre, tells us why he enjoys accumulating knowledge and why he crowns his end of the day with hard guitar riffs.
I can really relax after work with earthy, handmade music - it just has to go full blast and really rock. I'm open when it comes to genres, from punk to hardcore, metal or indie, everything is there when I end the day at home with my feet tapping. But it's even nicer when I can experience the bands live on stage. No journey within Europe is too far for good concerts and festivals. I also enjoy travelling with friends and family.
During work, I am predominantly digital, because my most important work tool is the PC. After my training as a warehouse logistics specialist, which I completed at DACHSER in Radeburg in 2011, I worked as a team leader in the transshipment hall. But with the switch to Contract Logistics and the accompanying intensive handling of MIKADO, our unique warehouse management system used worldwide, I became an application specialist for the software developed by DACHSER over time. I was also a trainer at a young age and was therefore asked whether I could imagine a position as DEWO (DACHSER Expert Warehouse Operations). I jumped at the chance and accepted immediately.
To start my new job, however, I first had to go through the DDC (DEWO Development Centre). I have been a DEWO trainee since May 2022 and grow a little more with my tasks every day. DACHSER always aims to be at the cutting edge of technology. That's really great for me, because through the DEWO community I get the perfect insight into the latest tools and technical resources that are planned or already being used in the organisation. The DEWO Training Weeks are also something special for me, because they give me the opportunity to work on new learning goals together with my colleagues. That's really fun in a team. Good reasons to really step on the gas, because I am acquiring more and more knowledge and know-how so that I am well prepared to successively aim for my next career step: DEWO Junior. When I have reached this goal, all paths will be open to me. And if everything goes well, I can still make it to DEWO Senior.
I hope that I was able to give you a little insight into my daily work and that you enjoyed reading. By the way: if you are not familiar with the rock music genre but are curious, there are several music streaming providers with great playlists that contain all the classics of the scene.
Yours, Raiko Richter
